Hello.
As a kid I was always making something, and I could never keep what I figured out to myself. I didn't have much to work with, so whatever was around had to do, and that never stopped me from creating. If anything, I credit those limits with the imagination I have, since the gaps had to be filled in somehow. Those years shaped who I am, and I wouldn't want it any other way.
How I try to live
I found a deep appreciation for the sciences and the arts, and came to believe that a mind and body left partially developed is a waste. I try to think critically, to stay engaged with the world instead of observing it from a distance, and to figure out what I value by acting on it rather than only thinking about it. I only get one life to be curious in, and I don't want to spend it all looking at one thing.
Proficient in many, not expert in one
So I never made the conscious decision to specialize in one domain. The world tends to push the other way, and with good reason, since depth is how most fields advance and there is real value in knowing one thing better than almost anyone. Still, the problems I find most interesting sit between fields, and pushing those boundaries usually depends on someone noticing that two separate areas are describing the same thing. I would rather be proficient in many than a master of one.
